SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
Aquatics: Management
Description: Maintaining safety standards per the Ellis and Associates National Pool and water Park Lifeguard Training program. Implementing recruiting and training programs for the 2013 Team Members. Maintaining overall appearance of Hurricane Harbor through proper staffing, training, and cleanliness. Assisting in training of lifeguards during pre-season training programs and through regular in-service training (if Ellis certified). Performing lifeguard tasks as necessary. Responsible for scheduling 300+ lifeguards on a weekly basis.
Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in Training and Development, Recreation Management, Communications, Education, Management, or a related field. Previous aquatic experience preferred, but not required. Current lifeguard/CPR certification or ability to achieve certification as an Ellis and Associates National Pool and Waterpark Lifeguard (training conducted by Six Flags). Ability to work in outdoor as well as indoor locations at any given time. Responsible for own transportation. Able to work a variable shift for 40 hours per week, including weekends. Provide a commitment of employment from January 2013 thru August 2013.
Food Service: Human Resource Liaison
Description: Assisting the Food Service Department with the facilitation and planning of pre-season Orientation/Discovery and Training sessions. Assisting the Food Service Department with the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of all seasonal candidates for employment. Assisting in Job Placement and Scheduling Team Members. Maintain all tracking documentation and paperwork regarding hiring and training. Assisting with any office needs as required. Training on Correct usage on equipment. Evaluating of all host and hostess Team Members. Assisting in the motivation of Team members through positive reinforcement and coaching. Working closely with all members of management for follow up training on Guest Service, Food Safety and Sanitation, Cashier Procedures and safe Work Environment Procedures.
Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in Food Service Management, Human Resource Management, Psychology, Organizational Communication or a related field. Responsible for own transportation. Able to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and variable shifts. Provide a commitment of employment from January 2013 thru August 2013. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Food Service: Catering Management
Description: Educating staff regarding all park and department policies and following up with Team Members to guarantee consistent enforcement of quality Guest Service. Overseeing the on-the-job training program within the unit to ensure all new hire employees receive consistent and adequate training. Ensuring that all Team Members know and follow safe employment practices to maintain a safe work environment. Maintaining proper inventory control and cost of sales through the use of the PAR ordering system, inventory transfers and delivery inspections. Providing Team Members with proper coaching and counseling when job performance or policy violations require such action. Ensuring the adherence of all minor employment policies without error or violation. Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of all administrative forms. Maintaining a clean, organized unit throughout your shift, being sure to keep levels of stock and prep consistent to ensure a smooth transaction when shift changes occur. Developing personal leadership skills by increasing your knowledge about your position, unit, section and department. Providing Team Members with appropriate information and helping them develop their leadership skills. Maintaining proper number of serving lines in order to provide fast, efficient service as business dictates. Motivating Team Members to maintain a positive attitude and work environment.
Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in Hotel or Restaurant Management or related field. Previous experience in Food Service, Management or related background. Must be self-confident, organized, creative, outgoing and detail oriented. Responsible for own transportation. Able to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and variable shifts. Provide a commitment of employment from May 2013 thru August 2013.
Food Service: Quality Assurance
Description: Conducting daily safety and sanitary inspections to ensure compliance with the Lake County Health Department. Ensuring Temperature Tracking logs are completed in compliance with the Lake County Health Department. Checking the food quality and presentation in each restaurant on a daily basis to ensure that the food is being served at proper temperatures. Ensuring that any food not meeting standards of quality is taken care of in the appropriate manner. Coaching and reinforcing Unit Management regarding proper temperatures within each step of the food flow (H.A.C.C.A.P.). Performing routine checks of all beverage systems to ensure they are being served at the highest possible quality. Assisting in the tabulation and tracking of the Team Check program. Assisting in Safety and Sanitation programs. Completing certification for State of Illinois sanitation guidelines.
Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in Nutrition, Foods Management, Safety, Health Policy, or related field. Able to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and variable shifts. Responsible for own transportation. Provide a commitment of employment from May 2013 thru August 2013. Must be self-confident, organized, creative, outgoing and detail oriented.
Food Service: Restaurant Management
Description: Learning, Educating, and Implementing all Park and Department Policies and Procedures. Assisting with on-the-job training for all Team Members to ensure a consistent and adequate level of performance. Maintaining a safe work environment at all times. Coaching and counseling Team Members regarding job performance. Maintaining proper inventory levels through PAR system, transfers and inspections. Assisting Team Members with development of leadership skills. Ensuring adherence to all minor employment policies. Motivating Team Members to maintain a positive work environment. Performing any necessary duty to ensure tasks are complete.
Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management, Food Service Management or related field. Must be self-confident, energetic, and outgoing. Able to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and variable shifts. Provide a commitment of employment from May 2013 thru August 2013. Responsible for own transportation.
Food Service: Supply Chain Management
Description: Maintaining proper inventory levels of all products on a daily basis through use of the PAR-ordering guide, inventory transfers and delivery inspections. Entering Vendor bid information with correct pricing and descriptions. Meeting with Vendors to confirm initial orders and setup orders for the season. Ensuring the accurate and timely placement of all orders via phone, fax and internet. Maintaining open lines of communication between the department, vendors, warehouse and restaurants in the park. Ensuring that any food not meeting standards of quality established are taken care of in an appropriate manner and communicating any violations to the department. Reporting any food spoilage/damage in warehouse or on delivery dock to management. Creating and maintaining a weekly product usage report/database. Maintaining and updating the database daily, weekly or monthly as prices change. Ability to foresee and anticipate a swing in weekly usage. Processing and filling of Purchase Orders.
Requirements: Pursuing a degree in Procurement, Hotel/Restaurant Management or related field. Previous experience in Food Service, Management or related background preferred. Must be self-confident, organized, creative, outgoing and detail-oriented. Able to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and variable shifts. Provide a commitment of employment from January 2013 thru August 2013. Responsible for own transportation.
Food Service: Training and Development
Description: Assist with facilitation of departmental training, and development of training programs. Training and providing follow up for: a) Guest Service; b) Food safety and sanitation policies; c) Cashier procedures; d) Safe work environment. Evaluating the performance of all hosts and hostess Team Members. Training Team Members on the correct and safe usage of all equipment and supplies. Working with unit Supervisors, Leads and mentors to ensure optimum training and development of all Team Members throughout the operating season. Assisting in the motivation of seasonal Team Members through positive reinforcement and coaching. Error free communication and execution of the Department Minor Employment Policy. Ensuring accurate and timely completion of all administrative forms. Continually developing personal leadership and management skills while increasing knowledge of all aspects of the department. Assisting in the seasonal Team Member events and incentives program. Assisting in Team Member placement and assigning Schedules. Assist with Human Resource responsibilities such as interviewing, job placement, and tracking paperwork regarding hiring and training.

Human Resources
Description: Utilize online application system to source candidates. Pre-screening, interviewing and placement of seasonal Team Members. Assist with local high school, college and community recruitment. Processing team member paperwork. Assisting team members with questions, problems, concerns. General clerical and office duties.
Responsibilities: Provide a commitment of employment from May 2013 thru August 2013. The three-month commitment is a requirement for this internship. Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Organizational Communication, or a related field. Responsible for own transportation. Able to work 40 hours a week, including weekends and variable shifts. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Park Services: Management
Description: Assigning and following up on tasks focused on maintaining a high level of park cleanliness. Coaching and training employees in all aspects of departmental operation. Tracking and monitoring employee attendance. Supervising employees and providing feedback on their day-to-day performance. Handling Guests’ suggestions and comments in a positive manner. Providing clear communication of all park and departmental policies and procedures. Assisting in the development and planning of department/division activities and incentives.
Requirements: Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment. Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Management, Training and Development, Communication, Education, Industrial Psychology, or a related field. Responsible for own transportation. Able to work 40 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and varied shifts. Ability to work outdoors or indoors at any given time. Provide a commitment of employment from May 2013 thru august 2013.
Retail: Human Resource Liaison
Description: Interviewing and hiring for seasonal positions required within the Retail Department. Facilitating all department trainings for all hired Team Members. Manage all seasonal paperwork regarding hiring and training (department and lessee operations). Assist with store operations as needed (Management functions, cashiering, etc.). Assist retail office with any clerical functions. Plan, coordinate, and execute department seasonal incentives. Represent the Park as a recruiter for local high school visits.
Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in Training and Development, Human Resource Development or management, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Communication, or a related field. Responsible for own transportation. Able to work 40 hours a week, including weekends. Provide a commitment of employment from January 2013 thru August 2013. The eight-month commitment is a requirement for this internship. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Retail: Management
Description: Communication of the day-to-day operation. Manage inventory (shipments, ticketing, transfers, damages, etc.). Promote and maintain safety. Coordinate team member breaks in accordance with labor laws and Company policy. Perform basic retail team member duties (Sales, Cashiering, Stocking, etc.). Maintain shop visually appealing (Overall cleanliness and organization, merchandise displays, windows, fixtures, counter, and stockrooms). Train, motivate and lead team members to achieve department and park goals. Coaching and Counseling Team Members as needed. Coordinate unit Loss Prevention measures.
Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in Business Management, Retail Management, or related field. Previous experience in Retail, Management, or related background. Must be self-confident, organized, creative, outgoing and detail oriented. Able to work 40 hours per week including: nights, weekends and holidays. Responsible for own transportation. Provide a commitment of employment from May 2013 thru August 2013.
Retail: Visual Merchandise
Description: Assisting with the development and execution of individual shop displays and all window displays. Performing display maintenance on a daily basis including, but not limited to vacuuming, cleaning, and painting. Assisting with the design and re-display of assigned shops. Maintaining upkeep of all Visual Merchandising work areas including storage areas and all tools. Designing and generating all store signage. Assist with store operations as needed (management functions, cashiering, etc.).
Requriements: Currently pursuing a degree in Visual Merchandising or related field. Strong computer proficiency. A valid driver’s license. At least one year of experience in a retail environment. Able to work independently. Provide a commitment of employment from May 2013 through August 2013.
Ride Operations: Training
Description: Assisting the Ride Operations Department with the facilitation of Department Training. Evaluating and monitoring ‘On the Job’ Training Programs at ride units to ensure that new Team Members are learning job tasks in a consistent and timely manner. Providing clear communication of all park and departmental policies and procedures. Documenting and tracking Team Member records regarding hiring, training, and certifications. Assisting in the development and planning of department/division activities and incentives. Working as a Team Member at ride unit as assigned.
Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in training and Development, Recreation Management, Communication, Education, Industrial Psychology, or a related field. Responsible for own transportation. Able to work 40 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and varied shifts. Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work in outdoor as well as indoor locations at any given time. Provide a commitment of employment from May 2013 thru August 2013.
Safety: Supervisor
Description: Perform periodic inspections of fire sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers; eye wash stations, food preparation areas and general safety inspections. Investigation and mitigation of hazardous situations and conditions. Participates in Safety Education Programs. Complete required documentation in a legible, accurate and timely manner. Maintain a clean working area, ensure stocking of supplies, daily filing of reports.
Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older. Currently pursuing a degree in Safety, Industrial Technology or a related field. Responsible for own transportation. Able to work 40 hours a week, including weekends and variable shifts. Must have a valid driver’s license.
